John II Casimir, Szóstak 1662 TT, Bydgoszcz – a rarer example
Type IV bust (Ciura).
The Ślepowron coat of arms (of Jan Kazimierz Krasiński – Grand Treasurer of the Crown) is divided by a circumferential inscription on the reverse.
On the reverse, on either side of the shield bearing the Snopek coat of arms (the coat of arms of the Vasa family), the letters T–T (the initials of Tomasz Tymf—the leaseholder of the Bydgoszcz mint).
A border on the obverse and reverse.
Variant with profiled coats of arms, tapering at the bottom.
The Vasa coat of arms in a U-shaped cartouche, without decorations.
A variant with the inscription “IOH CASIM … POL & SVE” in the rim on the obverse and “… ARG SEX – REG POL …” in the rim on the reverse.
Condition: 2-
A minor flaw on the disc and under-strike in the border, but a beautifully preserved piece. Luster and mint mirror finish. A rarer variety. An attractive coin.
