Prussia, Teutonic Order, Albrecht, penny (klipa) n.d. (1521), men. Königsberg.
Av. Shield of the Grand Master (with cross and shield with eagle in the center).
Rv. Teutonic shield.
Weak silver, 1.47 g, 16.2 by 15.2 mm. Vossberg 1243; Kopicki 9051 (R8).
Condition IV
Kopicki's extreme rarity is obviously out of date now (Vossberg knew of only one piece, there were none in the Malbork collection!), but the coin remains rare and sought after. Today it is usually estimated at R4. It was minted during the so-called Horsemen's War, the Teutonic Order's last war against Poland, from 1-gold silver (i.e. 63/1000), devalued after the war and taken out of circulation at the price of a pfennig (i.e. 1/18 of face value). The condition is typical for this issue.
