Sigismund I the Old, Groschen 1529, Toruń – re-struck – very rare
Bust of Sigismund I the Old wearing a crown and armor (Romanesque type 1D). The shoulder guard consists of two parts. The collar of the armor consists of four elements. There are no rivets on the shoulder guard or the collar.
A variant of the Royal Prussian Eagle with a slender tail and a sword held in its right hand (Romanik type 2A).
A variant with an inscription bearing the king’s title ending with ... PRVS and a rim inscription on the reverse ending with ... PRVSS
A punctuation variant featuring large rosettes separating the rim inscriptions on the obverse and reverse, as well as small rosettes serving as punctuation between the obverse and reverse.
Error—in the rim inscription on the obverse in … TOCI … the letter C was struck over an II; TOC/II I overprint—very rare.

Minor localized under-strikes, but a beautifully preserved piece. Brilliance and mint mirror finish. A rare variety. Rare error— TO C/II I overstrike A beautiful coin for specialized collections.
