The letter, written in Latvian, expresses his admiration for the Czech nation and his hope for continued cultural and economic cooperation between Latvia and Czechoslovakia:
"Priecājos, ka latviešu tika spējā sabiedrība, kur varu izteikt savu sajūsmu par Čechi - s lovību zemī un tautis un ceru, ka mūsu tautu kultūrālā un saimnieciskā turpināsies."
Translation in English:
"I am glad that Latvian society has the capacity where I can express my enthusiasm for the Czechs - with love for this land and its people, and I hope that our national culture and economy will continue."
The letter is dated June 15, 1927.
Rainis was one of the most significant figures in Latvian literature, contributing greatly to the formation of the modern Latvian state. His work continues to be recognized not only in Latvia but also in the international literary context.
