Signed on the dial: Juhel / A Paris
The case depicts a putto with attributes of science and art, showing the union of these fields.
Other Juhel clocks are in the collections of the Royal Castle in Warsaw, the Metropolitan Museum in New York and the Palace of Versailles. The latter with a similar theme, only with two putti, was intended in 1784 for the apartments of King Gustav III of Sweden, who was a guest at Versailles.
