Notes:
Other comparable paintings include: Four Country People, dated 1630, last at J. Goudstikker, Amsterdam and Dune Landscape with a Fence, dated 1631, collection of the Castle Museum in Gotha. The Landscape with Two Oaks from 1641 in the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam or the Dirt Road with Farmhouse and Board Fence from 1629 held at the Städel Museum in Frankfurt show similar restraint in their colouration and staffage.
