Biography
He was a student of W. Gerson in the Drawing Class. He continued his artistic studies from 1878 to 1880 at the Munich Academy under Otto Seitz. From 1886 onward, he lived permanently in Warsaw. He practiced portrait painting, alluded to events of the January Uprising in his works, and enjoyed painting hunting scenes. He frequently exhibited at the Zachęta in Warsaw, as well as in Vilnius and Kyiv. In 1926, the Zachęta Gallery in Warsaw organized a posthumous exhibition of the artist’s work. A significant portion of his body of work was destroyed by fire during the war in the Warsaw apartment of the painter’s daughter. His portraits and hunting-themed paintings are part of the collection of the National Museum in Warsaw.
