Studied first at the Warsaw University of Technology (1966-1972) and then at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts (1976-1981), where he received his diploma in the studio of Jan Tarasin. From 1980-1988 he was an assistant at the Painting Department of the Academy there. At a time when traditional landscape painting remains in the distant background of artists' interests, he created his own, extremely interesting formula of painting focused primarily on the experience of close contact, even intimate contact with nature.
