Biography
A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań (Photography and Multimedia), recipient of a scholarship from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage (2008). He also studied philosophy. He works on photographic series—sometimes developed over several years—using laborious and demanding techniques. Although some of his works can be interpreted as intriguing anthropological studies, a key focus of his practice is the semantics of the image and references to historical photography. Bownik lives and works in Warsaw.
