Woodcut depicting a kabuki actor from the Ichikawa Danjūrō family, one of the most famous acting clans of Japanese kabuki theatre. The figure is depicted in a sumptuous kimono with a distinctive geometric pattern and with two swords (daishō), suggesting the samurai character of the role. At the top is an inscription indicating the role and the actor's name, and on the left is the author's signature "長秀画" (Nagahide ga - drawn by Nagahide). Below is the publisher's mark in the shape of a gourd.
