The ORNO Cooperative was established as a result of the war in Poland, which significantly restricted the operations of private goldsmith and jewelry workshops.
The design of these products reflects the postwar approach to material use, but was also a consequence of the technological and production capabilities of the time. Jewelry and other items were made from more readily available raw materials, such as metals and alloys of copper and brass. Subtle, delicate designs were replaced by more expressive, more substantial forms.
In 1949, the ORNO Cooperative became part of the Central Office for Folk and Artistic Industry.
Today, ORNO captivates not only with its distinctive form but also with the way in which limitations were transformed into an original design language.
