Bronze casting and polychrome enamels
The depicted cross features the canonical structure of the Russian eight-pointed cross (with three crossbeams), in which the lower slanted arm serves as a symbolic support. On either side of the central arm are the Virgin Mary and John the Baptist, forming a Deesis, while at the top a seraph, surmounted by the Mandylion the “acheropita” face of Edessa miraculously imprinted on the veil completes the composition.
Item condition grading: **** good.
The lot is in a good state of preservation with the normal wear and defects commensurate with its age and use over time.
