acrylic, canvas, 100 x 40 cm, signed on the back: '03.2026 TECH. ACRYLIC ON CANVAS | "TRAVELER IN COOL GREENS". ART. MAL. KATARZYNA WENDLAND'
Artist painter, curator and animator of cultural life. Graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, where in 2006 she defended her diploma in easel painting and painting in architecture (wall painting, stained glass), also defended an annex in drawing. Since 2007, she has been a member of the Association of Polish Artists of the Toruń District. She is the founder and president of the Board of the Pinata Foundation, dedicated to the dissemination of contemporary art. She is the author of 16 solo exhibitions and participant of 54 collective presentations at home and abroad. In her ornithological painting series, Katarzyna Wendland departs from the illustrative representation of nature in favor of an emotional portrait. The artist treats the images of birds as a pretext for formal search, in which color plays a key role. The choice of the bird motif alludes to the lightness, transience of the moment and subtle beauty of nature. Although the species of birds remain recognizable, the author sets them in an undefined, often geometrizing space. The bird thus becomes an element of a larger, painterly composition, not just a subject in itself. She focuses on the intangible: the vibration of the air, the reflection of light on the feathers, the sudden spurt into flight. The paintings in the "Gramen" series are prized for their universal visual language, which combines a classic animalistic motif with a contemporary approach to form and color.
