Mikalojus Povilas Vilutis (b. 1953, Vilnius) is a well-known contemporary Lithuanian graphic artist with a distinctive and easily recognisable artistic style. In 1977 he graduated from the Lithuanian Art Institute, today known as the Vilnius Academy of Arts, where he studied graphic design. Having started to participate in exhibitions during his studies, the artist quickly gained recognition in Lithuania and abroad.
His work is distinguished by precise line control, strong symbolism and a metaphorical world of images. His works often have a philosophical approach to man and the environment, while serious themes are often complemented by subtle irony and unexpected visual solutions. The artist is appreciated for his ability to combine professional technical performance with an original artistic idea and exceptional aesthetics.
