Eugenio Broggi—Peacock-shaped sculpture with a removable box made of gilded metal and semi-precious stones
A standing piece with a closed tail and a monumental, open, openwork tail that can be used as a centerpiece. The plumage is finely chiseled and engraved to faithfully reproduce the texture of the feathers. The open tail is embellished with seventeen cabochons of semi-precious stones—nine of lapis lazuli and eight of malachite—arranged to mimic the ocelli of the feathers.
The work is signed by Broggi,
The multi-layered construction of the feathers gives the sculpture a remarkable sense of depth and realism.
Maximum length approximately 100 cm.
