Hempel Brothers Plater and Silver Factory - a factory operating in Warsaw from 1894 to 1944. Founded by Wladyslaw Hempel (1871-1944), a goldsmith, a student of Antoni Riedl; he received the title of master goldsmith in 1904. Together with his brother Stefan (b. 1873), he established the first factory as early as 1894 at 16 Daniłowiczowska St., later moving to Senatorska St., and finally to 100 Leszno St. Władysław was responsible for production himself, and also designed some of the designs, while Stefan managed administration and sales. The company quickly became a success - already in 1904 it employed 90 workers, and soon the production of plateware was abandoned to focus exclusively on silver products. The factory aimed to produce table, plated and liturgical silverware. It cooperated with the Society for Applied Art, producing designs by Society members Antoni Porczynski and Franciszek Mączenski. During the interwar period, it also carried out designs by architect Jerzy Warchałowski. The factory was destroyed during the Warsaw Uprising and ceased operations in 1944.
