and Ewa Pogwizd (1926 - 2013), the first woman from Paszyn to sculpt in wood. In 2008, during a meeting organized by Anna Padol with sculptors, Ewa Pogwizd, then 82 years old, recalling her beginnings with art, confessed:" The priest saw that there was a lot of poverty in our house and took me in to do this carving. The man made a little penny. Without it, I don't know how it would have been. I think the children would have been redeemed." But it wasn't the achievements that were important to this modest woman. She was happy above all that others liked what she was doing. Ewa Pogwizd's sculptures can be found in many galleries, and are also on permanent display at the Ethnographic Museum in Cracow. Of great interest are Ewa Pogwizd's "Stations of the Cross" bas-reliefs, located in the Parish Museum of Folk Art named after Rev. Canon Edward Nitka in Paszyn.
