Oil, linen canvas, 70x70 cm. Signed on the reverse.
The paintings of Jacek Sliwka (b. 1994) are a subtle play between realism and minimalism, full of melancholy, decadence and quiet provocation. Every detail hides something more than is apparent at first glance. Exhibitions are an opportunity for him to see how a painting functions outside the studio. At the same time, he prefers to keep his distance, letting his works speak for themselves without imposing interpretations.
Recurring themes in Plum's paintings are Poland, Polishness, fleeting moments. At the same time, this is not a cheap play on sentiment - rather than nostalgic motifs, there are snippets of current reality. This is fresh, accessible art, making us reflect not only on the state of the world and our own backyard, but also on ourselves.
