Jerzy Piotrowicz (1943-1999) Painter, graphic artist and illustrator. Born in 1943 in the village of Przedświt near Ostrów Mazowiecki, he spent his childhood and youth in Jelenia Góra. He studied at the Painting Department of the State Higher School of Fine Arts (now the University of Arts) in Poznań under Marian Szmańda; he received his diploma with honors in Tadeusz Jackowski's graphics studio (1972). He practiced painting, drawing, as well as printmaking (metal techniques). Exceptional technical proficiency allowed him to achieve virtuoso solutions in all these fields. The pursuit of optimal effects or even maestry is confirmed especially by works made using different techniques and devoted to the same motifs. He simultaneously practiced painting and drawing, as well as printmaking (metal techniques).
