Paul Nicolas (1875-1952) was a French designer and glass master associated with the artistic center of Nancy. From 1893 to 1919 he worked at the Daum Frères manufactory, where he participated in the creation of many outstanding Art Nouveau art glass creations. Around 1920 he began his own production, signed "d'Argental," which included layered glass decorated with acid etching, engraving and enamel. These products, often decorated with landscape and floral motifs, are among the important examples of French art glass of the first half of the 20th century and continue the aesthetic tradition of the École de Nancy.
