The lithographs were produced using the original lithographic stones prepared by Toulouse-Lautrec for the Joubert publishing house in 1895.
Much later, fourteen stones were discovered in the basement of the Joubert publishing house.
With the owner’s permission, new prints were made from them at the Mourlot studio in Paris, and the entire set was published by A.C. Mazo & Cie in 1978.
After this print run was completed, the stones were rendered unusable (destroyed in a manner that prevented further printing) and transferred to the collection of the Print Room (Cabinet des Estampes) of the National Library of France (Bibliothèque Nationale).
