Biography
Cartoonist and comic book writer, illustrator, graphic designer. Drummer (Cool Kids of Death, Dick4Dick). Educator. Graduate of the Faculty of Graphics and Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz, also studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. Scholarship holder of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage. One of the founders of the informal Famous Group 8, bringing together the young generation of comic artists from Lodz in the 1990s. Creator of comics: Glinno, Stan, Tragedy of Plock (to a script by Grzegorz Janusz) and dozens of shorter comic forms. He publishes in the press and comics magazines. Winner of the Grand Prix at the International Festival of Comics and Games in Lodz in 2009 for Sharp White (to a script by Grzegorz Janusz). Winner of the Prix Alph-Art Jeunes Talents at the Festival International de la Bande Dessinée d'Angouleme in 2001 for his comic strip Duck, which continues to receive criticism, such as in the American periodical Slavic Review, published by the University of Illinois. He has participated in dozens of group and solo exhibitions in Poland and abroad. He cooperates with the Gdansk animation studio "Grupa Smacznego" and lives near Gdansk. In January 2017, Totally Not Nostalgia was published to a script by Wanda Hagedorn with drawings by Jacek Frąś. It is a 230-plus page story-memoir recounting the heroine's adolescence in communist Poland. The album has been recognized as one of the most important contemporary comics produced in Poland.
