Janusz Maria BRZESKI - painter, draughtsman, graphic artist, and an outstanding creator of artistic photography. He was educated at the School of Decorative Arts in Poznan, and as a scholarship student traveled in France and Italy. He had his first exhibition in Poznań in 1928, and soon left for Paris, where he painted, created photomontages and designed magazine covers. Since 1933 he has been a member of the Artists' Guild "Jednoróg", and has exhibited a lot in Cracow, Warsaw and Lvov. After the war, he designed, among other things, the first cover of "Przekroj" and the magazine's permanent vignette. Brzeski's work related to photography - photomontages, collages - found its way to the world's largest museums after his death, in the 1980s, and to major international exhibitions (Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris).
