Biography
Janisch was a member of the avant-garde Lviv artists’ group “artes.” He studied painting under Zofia Albinowska-Minkiewiczowa and at the State Industrial School under Kazimierz Sichulski. In the 1920s, he traveled to Paris twice. During World War II, he lived in Kraków and later in Warsaw. His painting was inspired by Fauvism and, during his time with the “artes” group, by Surrealism. He worked in oil painting and drawing, as well as avant-garde techniques such as collage and photomontage.
