signed and dated p. d.: "W.Terlikowski 28"
on the reverse a sticker with handwritten inscription
At the outbreak of World War I, the Terlikowski family's material situation was in a very poor state. They were rescued from a difficult situation by the help of an influential protector, Mrs. Leygues, who purchased several paintings by Vladimir. This allowed the family to survive some of the toughest times. The contacts of the Terlikowski and Leygues families became increasingly close. Thanks to the patronage of George Leygues, a French politician, Terlikowski was awarded the Legion of Honor in 1920, and a year later had an exhibition at the Le Boétie gallery, where he presented 294 works. In 1924, Vladimir divorced his wife, Regina. That same year, he married Mr. and Mrs. Leygues' daughter Jeanne.
