Red Mediterranean coral (Corallum Rubrum), carved in the shape of Bacchus, god of wine, fertility, pleasure, music, theatre and festivals in Greek and Roman mythology. The figure of Bacchus is often depicted with a crown of vines, symbolising abundance and liberation. Coral as a protective talisman combined with the vital energy and abundance represented by Bacchus could symbolise protection that not only keeps evil away, but also promotes prosperity, fertility and joy.
