After the Russian Revolution of 1917, most of the jewelers who worked for Carl Fabergé lost their jobs. Adapting to the new political circumstances, these goldsmiths continued to produce in the Fabergé style, albeit with symbols of the new government.
During the Brezhnev era, it became customary in the Soviet Union to give each other elaborate gifts. There was a great demand for elaborate ornamental objects in the style of Fabergé. This gave rise to a new generation of jewelers and goldsmiths who created high-quality works of art in the tradition of the historical past.
