Around the edge, the inscription:  GOTT ZUR EHR, DEM NÄCHSTEN ZUR WEHR (To God's Honor, for the Protection of Others); Rev.: Inscription in Russian: 'ЗА УСЕРДИЕ' (For Zeal/Diligence), with the coat of arms of the city below. Circular inscription:  ОТ ВАЛКСКАГО ДОБРОВОЛЬНАГО ПОЖАРНАГО ОБЩЕСТВA. (From the Valka Voluntary Firefighting Society). The society was founded in 1867 in the city of Valka, Livonia Governorate.
