Pyramus, dressed in antique style, lies with his head bowed; Thisbe, standing, thrusts a sword into her heart; to the right, water streams from a fountain in the form of a spouting dolphin with a mounted putto. Simultaneous depiction of the story of Hero and Leander. In the foreground, Leander sits, untying his clothes and bootlaces, looking to the right toward the strait.
