Russia (USSR) Award Medal (1979-1991) - For Strengthening Military Cooperation
21.86g. 32mm. Please refer to the photos for detailed information on the condition of the medal. Approximately 20,000 individuals were awarded. Very rare. The medal was established by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet on May 25, 1979. It was awarded to military personnel, security and internal affairs officers, and citizens of Warsaw Pact member states, as well as other socialist and friendly countries, for their contributions to strengthening military cooperation. The medal is made of tombac, golden in color, and measures 32 mm in diameter. The obverse features a red-enamel five-pointed star with a shield inscribed "ЗА УКРЕПЛЕНИЕ БОЕВОГО СОДРУЖЕСТВА" and "СССР," flanked by laurel branches and crossed swords below. The reverse is matte. The medal is worn on the left side of the chest, with a ribbon in the colors of Warsaw Pact nations. It is considered one of the rarest Soviet post-war medals due to the limited number of recipients, primarily participants and organizers of joint military exercises.
