Certificate for the Order "For Merit, 3rd Class" (Ukraine). Konstantin Frolovich Lozanenko (December 4, 1923, Stepanovo village, Smolensk Governorate – October 10, 2013, Brest, Belarus) was a Soviet military signalman, a participant in the Great Patriotic War, a retired major, and Hero of the Soviet Union. In 1930, his family moved to the town of Yartsevo in the Smolensk region. In 1940, Konstantin graduated from eight grades at Secondary School No. 6 in Yartsevo. At the start of the Great Patriotic War, he was mobilized for trench work near Smolensk. After being evacuated to the Penza region, he worked on a collective farm. On May 1, 1942, Lozanenko was drafted into the Red Army. He served as a lineman in the 133rd Separate Guards Signal Battalion of the 25th Guards Rifle Corps of the 7th Guards Army. On September 25, 1943, during the crossing of the Dnieper River, under enemy fire, he ensured a stable wired connection for the corps command. For this, he was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union on October 26, 1943. After the war, Lozanenko continued his service in the Soviet Army, graduating from the Murom and Leningrad Military Signal Schools. In 1965, he retired with the rank of major. From 1966 to 1989, he worked as a technician at the Brest Electromechanical Plant. He was awarded numerous orders and medals, including the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, the Order of Lenin, the Orders of the Patriotic War, 1st and 2nd Class, the Medals "For Courage" and "For Military Merit," as well as orders from Belarus and Ukraine. In memory of Konstantin Lozanenko, a memorial plaque was installed on June 20, 2019, on the house in Brest where he lived.
