The sculpture has undergone conservation in the past. Visible repairs on the horse's legs, a fragment of the robe, the tail is missing, instead made of horsehair.
According to the previous owner, the sculpture was purchased by an employee of the Polish embassy in a commission-type store in Beijing. The sculpture was accompanied by the original bill from this store (now there is a photo of it). On the horse a wax export stamp from the 1960s.
