Distillery description
Amrut is an Indian distillery established in 1948 in Bengaluru, recognized for being one of the first Indian distilleries to focus on single malt whisky production. The distillery uses local ingredients, particularly barley grown in the Himalayan region. Amrut gained international acclaim in 2004 when it launched its first single malt whisky, boosting India's presence in the global whisky market. The tropical climate of Bengaluru accelerates maturation, producing whisky with rich, fruity, and spicy notes. Amrut Single Cask is a single malt whisky from the Indian distillery Amrut, bottled by the independent bottler Blackadder.Nose: Distinct notes of exotic fruit, oak wood and spices, with a light hint of vanilla.
Taste: Full and strong, with notes of caramel, tropical fruit and a strong woody base. The high alcohol content brings a distinct warmth on the palate.
Finish: Long and warm, with lingering notes of spice, oak and a subtle touch of caramel.
The whisky was matured in an oak cask with the reference number BA 4/2009, from which 277 bottles were drawn, and the auctioned bottle is number 116.
