WIKTOR JACKOWSKI, born in 1987 in Kielce, Poland. In 2011 he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, defending his diploma under Prof. Stanislaw Rodzinski at the Faculty of Painting. In 2010, he completed an internship under the Socrates-Erasmus program at L'école Estienne in Paris. In 2016, he settled in Athens, where he supervised the Greek studio for the production of the painting animation film "Loving Vincent." Since 2020, he has lived and worked in Warsaw.
His paintings illustrate broad issues of a sense of alienation, the relativity of values and a deficit of content. He uses realism, which he often reduces in terms of color and composition to emphasize the expression of the portrayed scene. Jackowski repeatedly returns to the same specific phenomena or objects in his paintings, exploring their expressive power and displacement of meaning in different settings. The starting material in his work is usually photographs he has taken, less often stills from films or photographic press materials.
He collaborates with the T L E N art gallery in Miasteczko Wilanów.
