Biography
In 1945–46, he studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Valenciennes. He moved to Poland in 1950. From 1953 onward, the artist never left the Bukowiec sanatorium, where he was being treated for tuberculosis and where he died after nearly 20 years of residence. The architecture and surroundings of the sanatorium were also the most frequent motifs in his works, though not always depicted literally. He had 19 solo exhibitions in Poland and 3 abroad (Vienna, Copenhagen, Florence). He participated in group exhibitions. From 1966, he was a member of the Société Internationale des Graveurs sur Bois "XYLON." In 1963, he received an award at the 5th Biennial of Graphic Artists in Ljubljana, and in 1966, he received two awards (the official prize and a special award) at the 1st International Biennial in Kraków. In 1967, he received an award at the International Print Exhibition in Vancouver, and in 1972, an award at the 2nd International Print Biennial in Fredrikstad.
