expert opinion: PhDr. Šárka Leubnerová Lot information
The artwork "view of Chillon" is the result of a unique collaboration between two important artists of the second half of the 19th century, Adolf Chwala and Ferdinand Lepié. The painting was created in 1868 and depicts a romantic view of Chillon Castle, surrounded by a dramatic landscape of lakes and mountains. Adolf Chwala, best known as a landscape painter, created the natural elements of this scene, including rocks, clouds, mountainsides, a lake and the coast. His precise work with color and light enhances the idyllic impression of the landscape, which is typical of his style inspired by romanticism and naturalism. Ferdinand Lepié, specializing in architecture, focused on an elaborate rendering of Chillon Castle. His detailed and precise work with architectural elements complements Chwal's approach to natural scenery, creating a harmonious and balanced composition.more photos
