expert opinion Lot information
From an expert opinion: The presented view of the Fisherman's Hut at Lake Brienzensee is undoubtedly a brilliant work by Adolf Chwala, a Czech painter and a very good graduate of the Max Haushofer Academy in Prague. After finishing his studies, Chwala moved to Vienna, where he lived and painted. He continued to look for forests and mountain lakes, streams, torrents and alpine towns to inspire his painting. One of his trips brought Chwala to the Swiss Alps to Lake Brienzensee, which he captured in several variations. Compositionally different only in details. At Chwal's collective exhibition in the National Gallery in Prague in 2011, three shots of the Alpine lake Brienzensee were exhibited, apparently the same place, only at a different time and season. The views of the shores, the lakes and the massive under the cloudy early evening sky are so impressive that they are painted several times in different formats. The presented oil on wood is masterfully executed, unfolding between high mountain massifs under dramatic moody landscape paintings.more photos
