In an interior with a tiled floor, Mary kneels in a red and blue robe with a veil and spreads out her arms in surprise. Opposite her, the angel of the Annunciation appears on clouds, holding a lily in his left hand. With his right arm, he points upwards to the dove of the Holy Spirit, which can be seen in a yellow-golden light breaking through the clouds. Behind Mary, a grey bank of clouds stretches upwards, while at the bottom right-hand edge is a stool on which a basket of cloth is placed - probably a reference to Mary's work, which she has interrupted. This is a high-quality painting in which the two main figures are highlighted by their colourful clothing, in contrast to the dark .grey clouds. Oil on copper plate. 30.5 x 20.7 cm.
