This rare set, designed by Karel Zemek in the 1970s, represents the celebrated "Niagara" collection from the Chribska glassworks. The ensemble consists of a tall vase (pattern no. 53795/30, 30 cm in height) and a matching ashtray (pattern no. 53792/16), both executed in the striking hot-shaped technique typical of Czech art glass.
The bold, cascading design echoes the motion of water, which gave the "Niagara" series its name. The fluid organic lines combined with heavy glass mass create sculptural pieces that serve as both functional objects and decorative highlights. Such sets are increasingly sought after by collectors of Bohemian mid-century glass and are considered outstanding examples of Czech design heritage.
