Set containing a handwritten excerpt of a poem and the title page of the book "Číše přátelství" with a personal dedication from the renowned Ukrainian poet Maksym Rylsky.On the first page is a quote from his work:
"Půjdeme tichými, jemnými stíny,
a vášnivou hudbu, která těžce svírá srdce.
Lidské štěstí má dvě rovnocenná křídla:
růže a vinná réva, krásné a užitečné."
("We will walk in quiet, gentle shadows,
and the passionate music that tightly grips the heart.
Human happiness has two equal wings:
roses and vines, beautiful and useful.")
Additionally, there is the title page of the book "Číše přátelství" (The Chalice of Friendship), published in 1946 in Kyiv, containing Rylsky’s handwritten dedication to Professor Bohumil Havránek, a leading Czech linguist and Slavist.
Maksym Rylsky was one of the most significant Ukrainian poets of the 20th century, whose work was characterized by deep lyricism, a love for nature, and the philosophy of a harmonious connection between beauty and utility. This example of his handwriting is not only a poetic statement but also a testament to his connections with the Czech intellectual community.
