A one-sided test print of a 20 zlotych banknote from 1939, part of the so-called “emigration issue,” printed by ABNCo in New York.
A rare trial print of the reverse side; the obverse is unprinted—produced on paper different from the standard paper used for banknotes intended for circulation. Printed at a 1:1 scale based on the main design of the reverse side, but on a larger-format sheet of paper. Printing method: intaglio (steel engraving), in navy blue. The inscription “BANK POLSKI 20 BACK 83656” is printed at the top; the entire piece is mounted on a presentation card measuring approximately 230 x 152 mm.
A rare and attractive item; only on the backing—cardboard—within the margins, foxing; the paper on which the test print was made is flawless.
